Hedge of Protection Prayer
This type of prayer is often used during times of great trial and spiritual attack. We may pray this prayer for ourselves, or for others who are currently experiencing difficult life challenges, such as physical sickness, financial shock or relational breakdown. The meaning of a "hedge of protection" prayer is thought to derive from the Book of Job, where Job is said to have a "hedge of protection" around him. Here God had placed a hedge (in Old Testament times this was a secure barrier - see Isaiah 5:5) around Job, his family and all he owned (see Job 1:10). So when we pray a prayer of protection like this for ourselves or someone else, we will be mindful of the wider life picture - it may also involve covering the children or spouses in prayer, as well as the dwelling and work life.
Encircle Me Lord
(a prayer that God would guard and protect the believer)
Encircle my mind. I have so many worries, doubts, fears and regrets to sift through. Please bring stillness and calm, remind me that you hold all these things for me and took them to the cross so that I might have peace.
Encircle my heart, for I am wounded, broken-hearted and empty. Please bring a new fullness, pour in your unconditional and extravagant love so that I might know new restoration and healing.
Encircle my soul, surround the heaviness of doubt, the weight of the burdens I carry and the ties that bind. With your presence, fill my soul with heavens light, with eternal promises and new faith.
Encircle my body, for I am tired, worn down with ailments and in need of deep restoration. Come with power, that I might emerge refreshed and ready to walk again.
Encircle me Lord. Encircle my whole being - mind, heart, soul and body. Lord, I need you so.

Ancient Celtic Prayer of Protection
Prayer for family protection
Lord be besides us, all every day
Guiding and leading us gently always.
Lord be above us, help us to see
The hope of the future, of all we could be.
Lord be beneath us, carry us when
We’re too shattered or tired to really have strength.
Lord be ahead of us, smoothing our paths
Protecting and blessing the places we pass.
Lord be behind us, healing our wounds,
Forgiving our mistakes and making us new.
Jesus, be within us, this family is yours
Now and forever, you are our Lord.
