Prayer for loss of loved one
We read in Psalm 23 that
"I may walk through valleys
as dark as death, but I won’t be afraid" (v.4, CEV).
Why is this so? Why are we not to fear, even death itself? It is because God, the creator and sustainer of all things,
is with us. He is behind us, and before us. And he has travelled before us - to the cross and ultimately triumphed over death itself. And Christ has gone to
prepare a room for us all, where we shall dwell forever in His house, and in His love (Psalm 23:6). May you know God's comfort and gentle embrace now as you pray and mourn the passing of your dear friend or relative. Further down this page is a heartfelt prayer for the loss of a precious husband. We begin with a prayer for the loss of a loved one:-
Prayer for loss of loved one
(a prayer of comfort to give to a loved one that is grieving)
Jesus, I feel such absence, please be present.
I feel such loss, please be here.
I feel such sadness, please be my sanctuary.
I feel such pain, please be with me.
I feel such confusion, please be truth.
I feel such anger, please be peace.
I feel such hopelessness, please be promise.
I feel such emptiness, please be near.
Jesus, I feel such loneliness, please be beside me.
I feel such heartache, please be close.
I feel such doubt, please be faithfulness.
I feel such guilt, please lead me home.
The loss has consumed me.
I come as I am.
Please be my everything.
I just take your hand.
Amen.

The Lord Is My Shepherd
Some comforting words from this famous bible psalm, frequently read at funerals and memorial services:-
Short prayer for loss of husband
Father,
I have no words, I cannot express, the things I feel at the loss of my husband, my soul mate, my nearest and dearest friend.
Please hold me and keep me as I walk this silent road, barren, dry and empty.
I trust him into your care, into the fullness of eternity with you.
I trust myself into your care, that you might gradually pour new light, hope and resurrection faith back into my soul.
You know him and love him dearly.
You know me, I need not worry for word, I simply come as I am before you.
Amen.
